Allie Smith manages all programming and events for the Institute, and serves as special assistant to the Executive Director. Allie previously worked at the global strategic advisory firm, the Albright Stonebridge Group, where she focused on conflict in Myanmar and greater Southeast Asia. Prior to that, she served as a program associate for the Kofi Annan-chaired Advisory Commission on Rakhine State in Myanmar, supporting the development of policy solutions for resolving the Rohingya refugee crisis. She has also worked with CARE International in Myanmar on gender based violence program design, as well as with the Council on Foreign Relations. She holds a BA with honors in Politics from Whitman College, and authored a senior thesis on the implementation of the women, peace, and security agenda in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. She is currently a Masters in Security Studies candidate at Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service, with a concentration in sub-state violence.
