Does increasing women’s participation in the U.S. military shift military culture? If so, does this support compliance with international conventions such as Women, Peace and Security or International Humanitarian Law?

GIWPS launched an important new report, “Culture, Gender, and Women in the Military: Implications for International Humanitarian Law Compliance,” supported by the Principality of Liechtenstein. Expert panelists drew from their experiences with the U.S. military to discuss these linkages, offered insights on overcoming barriers to women’s full participation in the U.S. military, and explored avenues for improving culture, conduct, and compliance.
