Rebecca Turkington manages events, programming and student engagement for the Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security. She is also a co-author of a number of the Institute’s publications including Women Leading Peace, and represents the Institute on the US Civil Society Working Group for Women, Peace & Security. Ms. Turkington joined GIWPS in 2013 from the National Democratic Institute, where she worked on women’s political participation in transitional democracies. She previously interned at the Moroccan Ministry of Interior on women and local governance, was a Research Assistant for the Wellesley Centers for Women, and helped implement the inaugural Women in Public Service Project Institute. Ms. Turkington received a B.A. with honors in International Relations and History from Wellesley College, where she was a Fellow at the Madeleine K. Albright Institute for Global Affairs, and an M.A. in Security Studies from Georgetown University concentrating in terrorism and substate violence.
