H.R.H. The Countess of Wessex is a full-time working member of the Royal Family and a Patron of over 70 charities and organizations. On International Women’s Day 2019, The Countess publicly announced her commitment to champion the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda and the UK’s Preventing Sexual Violence in Conflict Initiative (PSVI). The PSVI aims to prevent conflict-related sexual violence as well as respond to the needs of survivors, tackle stigma and strengthen justice and accountability. The Countess has spoken at the Commission on the Status of Women at the UN; attended a Foreign Office conference on PSVI with survivors, government and NGO representatives; and traveled, including to South Sudan, Sierra Leone, India and Kosovo, to meet with survivors of sexual violence, peacebuilders, and women peacekeepers on active deployment.
