Commitment 2025 High-Level Working Group Meeting

Exploring Opportunities for Enhanced Coordination to Advance the WPS Agenda  

Launched in 2019 by Finland and Spain, Commitment 2025 (C-25) brings together 13 governments to advance nine shared commitments on Women, Peace and Security—from women’s leadership in mediation to tracking representation in security and diplomatic institutions. GIWPS has monitored progress across these commitments, generating new data and insights that underscore major achievements, ongoing challenges, and opportunities for renewed collaboration.

In an event marking the culmination of C-25, GIWPS provided a briefing to UN Member States on key findings from our recently launched suite of research, highlighting data and trends related to women’s representation in security and diplomacy, financing for WPS, and the use of policy instruments and expertise to drive implementation. 

This event was co-hosted by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation of Spain, and the Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security.
