WPS Conflict Tracker Methodology
The WPS Conflict Tracker is the first stage of the Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security’s new conflict monitoring initiative. Updated monthly, the tracker provides a snapshot of key risks and opportunities for women in 25 conflict-affected countries, as well as each country’s current Conflict Status (At Risk of Escalation, Active Conflict, or Transitioning from Conflict) and WPS Trajectory (Worsening, Static, Improving). The WPS Trajectory – an original indicator – is determined through a holistic assessment of more than 80 qualitative and quantitative data points related to women’s status across the four WPS pillars (participation, prevention, protection, and relief and recovery). Selected countries reflect current events while ensuring geographic coverage and diversity of conflict dynamics. Sign up for the GIWPS mailing list to stay informed.
