Reparations in Colombia: Advancing the Women’s Rights Agenda

Summary

The purpose of this study is twofold. One the one hand, our aim is to examine to what extent the reparations components of the transitional justice arrangement in Colombia has developed a gendered approach to reparations, particularly regarding women’s rights and needs. On the other hand, we explore whether progress in engendering reparations is, or is not, linked to the participation of women’s rights organizations and networks in the processes of formulating and implementing reparations measures. As an alternative explanation we consider the penetration of the women’s rights agenda into the reparations initiatives at the hand of high level expert advisors to official bodies recommending and implementing reparations.
