United Nations Security Council Resolution 1888
Summary
UN Security Council Resolution 1888 ordered peacekeeping missions to protect women and children from sexual violence during warfare. The resolution also requests that the Secretary General appoints a special representative to work with governments, armed groups, and civil society organizations to address sexual violence. The resolution calls upon the Secretary General to deploy a team of experts to fields where sexual violence is especially prevalent in order to make recommendations to governments and identify problems with current policies.
