From Combat to Community: Women and Girls of Sierra Leone
Summary
This report suggests that in most post-conflict societies women are actively engaged in peacebuilding, even though they are generally portrayed as passive victims. The report provides information from a study of women and girls in Sierra Leone that was designed to assess how gender sensitivity and mainstreaming can make disarmament, demobilization, and reintegration processes more effective, and documents how women have impacted individual reintegration programs.
