Attitude is Everything: Challenging Gender Stereotypes

Event Details

Event Overview

No country has achieved gender equality yet. How do we overcome persistent inequalities? What is working for women and girls – and could be scaled to accelerate progress?

The Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security (GIWPS), in partnership with the Georgetown Ambassadors for Women, Peace and Security, launched a five-part virtual event series on how to advance gender equality. The series draws on findings from a groundbreaking report by GIWPS and The Rockefeller Foundation, in collaboration with Secretary Hillary Rodham Clinton, “Beijing+25: Accelerating Progress for Women and Girls.

This panel focused on three critical agents of change – male allies, traditional and religious leaders, and advertisers – and their role in changing the discriminatory gender norms that continue to limit the empowerment of women and girls around the world.

Read a summary of promising practices and programs based on our Beijing+25 report.
