A Gendered Analysis of Migration Trends in Europe’s Social Care Sector

Authored by Jenna Blower-Nassiri, this gender and migration research policy (GenMig) paper analyses sex-disaggregated migration and labour data to examine migration to and within Europe in the social care sector. The paper reviews Europe’s migration, care and employment regimes, complemented by country case studies, to address related gaps and highlight promising practices for gender-responsive migration governance in Europe’s social care sector. This research was funded by the Global Knowledge Partnership on Migration and Development (KNOMAD) as part of its thematic working group on data and demography at the World Bank.
