Attention to Gender Increases Security in Operations: Examples from the North Atlantic Treaty Organization
Summary
Through an examination of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), this report argues that security actors are more likely to accomplish a mission when they consider and incorporate strategies for satisfying the different needs and perspectives of both men and women. It provides a literature review, personal interviews, and a summary of group discussions, all of which reveal specific examples of how incorprating gender senstivity into policymaking can have a positive impact on operations.
