Abstract

This short field report describes the work of the International Centre for Human Rights and Democratic Development (ICHRDD) as it pertains to the prosecution of gender-related crimes in Rwanda. The ICHRDD organized a coalition of women’s groups to advocate for prosecution, monitor prosecution proceedings, and support women involved in the process. This work is one example of calls for treatment of rape as a war crime and of support for victims of gender-based violence made by the Machel Study.
