Executive Summary

The assessment of GBV within the Baidoa IDP camps reveals critical challenges and highlights specific areas and groups that are particularly vulnerable. The data indicates that latrines and water points are the most unsafe areas, with 71% of respondents perceiving these locations as high-risk. Markets and pathways, especially at night, also pose significant risks. Addressing these high-risk zones through improved lighting and enhanced security measures can mitigate some of the dangers faced by residents.

Sources of assistance are primarily community leaders and NGOs, with 62% and 23% of respondents citing them as effective sources of support. Conversely, only 5% of respondents trust local authorities for assistance, pointing to a need for strengthening official channels to increase their effectiveness and reliability.

In terms of GBV types, sexual violence and domestic violence are the most reported, with early and forced marriages also prevalent among younger girls. The need for targeted interventions to address these specific forms of abuse is crucial to reducing their incidence and impact.
