“Shall I Feed My Daughter, or Educate Her?”
Summary
Pakistan was described as “among the world’s worst performing countries in education,” at the 2015 Oslo Summit on Education and Development. This report explores the barriers to girls’ education in the country, including the government’s lack of investment, widespread poverty, and gender discrimination. The report details how the lack of access to education for girls is part of a broader landscape of gender inequality in Pakistan. The report ends by providing five broad policy recommendations for the Pakistani government.
