Truth in the Shadow of Justice
Abstract
The chapter argues that NGOs in the Balkans seeking new approaches to redress mass violence through truth-seeking face numerous challenges. In addition, the study also highlights the various approaches these organizations use to involve survivors in their truth-seeking initiatives. With this strategy, the organizations work to counter the prevalent belief that foreign actors and domestic and international courts have not adequately addressed the needs of those who suffered.
