Abstract

This paper surveys the problem of sexual abuse and sexual exploitation of women by international peacekeepers. It considers the impact of these abuses by peacekeepers from varying countries, and examines the developments in the laws prohibiting and punishing sexual abuse in conflicts. Furthermore, it examines the extent of the problem today, the UN responses to the problem, and proposes mechanisms for assisting victims.
