No country has achieved gender equality yet. How do we overcome persistent inequalities? What is working for women and girls – and could be scaled to accelerate progress?

The Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security in partnership with the Georgetown Ambassadors for Women, Peace and Security, hosted the second panel of our five-part virtual event series on how to advance gender equality. The series draws on findings from a groundbreaking report by the Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security (GIWPS) and The Rockefeller Foundation, “Beijing+25: Accelerating Progress for Women and Girls.”

Many governments have passed laws to improve gender parity, but implementation too often falls short. This panel focused on effective strategies for getting laws fully implemented and enforced to make a tangible difference for women in their everyday lives. Read a summary of promising practices based on the Beijing+25 report.
