Palwasha Hassan is the director of the Afghan Women’s Educational Center and founding member of the Afghan Women’s Network.

Palwasha Hassan is the director of the Afghan Women’s Educational Center and founding member of the Afghan Women’s Network. She previously served as a fellow at the United States Institute of Peace. Hassan is a dedicated women’s rights and peace activist with a special focus on girls’ education. She has advocated for increasing the political quota for women in the Afghan constitution and pioneered the first women’s legal support organization in Afghanistan, Roazana, as well as the Women and Street Children Center; Madadagar Women and Children Safe Home Network; and Irfan Cultural Center.
