From Resolution to Revolution: Marking 25 Years of the Women, Peace and Security Framework

10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. EST
Georgetown University

This event is open to members of the Georgetown University community. Please RSVP here using your official Georgetown email address.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of UNSCR 1325, which launched the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) Agenda. Today, more than 105 countries have adopted National Action Plans on WPS. While progress on WPS has been slower than hoped, there have been meaningful gains. As the field grapples with how to address ongoing and emerging WPS threats, there is an urgent need to learn from our successes.

The Embassy of Japan, the Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security (GIWPS), and the Sasakawa Peace Foundation USA (Sasakawa USA) will host a high-level event bringing together representatives from a variety of countries that have demonstrated leadership and innovation in advancing the WPS Agenda. The event will bring together key stakeholders to highlight best practices for WPS implementation.
