This perspective addresses the much ignored and overlooked issue of gender-based violence in same-sex relationships. The authors put same-sex domestic violence within the context of the south African society as framed by the Domestic Violence Act and South Africa’s relatively new Constitution. This perspective also explains the complexities of same-sex domestic violence within a social structure that is often abusive and threatening of alternative lifestyles and sexualities.
