On March 7, GIWPS participated in a panel discussion at the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) focusing on the new WPS Index. The Index aligns with the OSCE’s recognition that women and girls are critical to achieving sustainable peace and security.
The Vienna, Austria event was hosted by the Norwegian Delegation to the OSCE, the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights, and the OSCE Gender Section. GIWPS Executive Director Melanne Verveer, who also serves as Special Representative of the Chairperson-in-Office on Gender Issues to the OSCE, was joined in discussion by Dr. Jeni Klugman,GIWPS Managing Director; Ms. Ingibjörg Sólrún Gísladóttir, Director of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights; and Ms. Louise Olsson, senior researcher at the Peace Research Institute Oslo. The discussion was moderated by OSCE’s Senior Gender Adviser, Ms. Amarsanaa Darisuren.
