The Oslo, Norway launch of our Women, Peace and Security Index took place at Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO), our partners in creating the Index, on November 28, 2017. Around 90 people attended, including ambassadors and deputy heads of mission.
Ine Eriksen Søreide, the Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs, gave remarks on how the index is about listening to women and listening to data. She also commented that the exclusion of women is a security issue.
Ambassadors mentioned turning low scores into to-do lists. Other panel members included Director of PRIO Centre on Gender, Peace and Security Torunn L. Tryggestad, GIWPS Managing Director Jeni Klugman, PRIO Senior Research and Special Envoy Marianne Dahl, Afghan Ambassador to Norway H.E. Shukria Barakzia, FOKUS Executive Director Gro Lindstad, and PRIO Director Henrik Urdal.
