Women, Terrorism and Counterterrorism

On November 4th, 2013, the Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security and the McCain Institute for International Leadership co-hosted a panel discussion on Women, Terrorism and Counter-Terrorism at Georgetown University. The panel featured Mia Bloom, Professor of Security Studies at the University of Massachusetts – Lowell and author of Bombshell: Women and Terrorism, Bruce Hoffman, Director of the Center for Security Studies and Director of the Security Studies Program at Georgetown University, Jane Holl Lute, President and CEO of the Council on Cyber Security and Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security (2009-2013) and Jayne Huckerby, Associate Clinical Professor, Duke University School of Law and Director of Duke International Human Rights Clinic.

The panel was moderated by Ruth Marcus, columnist and editorial writer for The Washington Post, specializing in American politics and domestic policy. Ambassador Melanne Verveer, Executive Director of GIWPS and Cindy McCain, Humanitarian and International Business Leader and McCain Institute for International Leadership also made remarks.
