Amidst the violence and destruction of conflict, new economic opportunities can open up for women as a result of rapid societal change. This research, supported by the Bank of America Charitable Foundation, contributes to the growing literature on the linkages between armed conflicts and economic opportunities from a gender perspective, and addresses the question of whether the effects are sustained over the medium-to-long term.
