This research—supported by Global Affairs Canada’s Elsie Initiative for Women in Peace Operations—has two primary objectives. First, it will provide an inclusive definition of peacekeeping operations’ effectiveness that accounts for the gendered dimensions of conflict and peacekeeping and will suggest indicators to measure United Nations PKO effectiveness. Second, it will examine to what extent female peacekeepers affect UN PKO effectiveness.
