Executive Summary
The article deals with the decision of the U.S. government implement to implement the United Nations (UN) Security Council Resolution 1325 on women, peace and security through a National Action Plan (NAP) mandated under an executive order issued in December 2011. The NAP seeks to increase the number of women who are involved in peace and security matters at the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) and Department of State (DOS). An analysis of women’s participation in governance is presented.
