A Long Way to Go: Implementation of the Elimination of Violence Against Women Law in Afghanistan
Abstract
This report explores the Elimination of Violence Against Women Law (EVAW), passed in Afghanistan in 2009. It highlights how regardless of the progress underway in this important issue area, ultimately the legal system in Afghanistan under-utilizes its guidance and regulations. The report recommends that high-level government officials continue to highlight just how important implementation of the law is, in addition to the continued efforts of international donors to support grassroots implementation.
