Gendering Demilitarization as a Peacebuilding Tool
Summary
This report analyzes a broad spectrum of case studies of demobilization processes in which women’s rights have been compromised, and uses feminist theories to draw conclusions about how demobilization exercises can be improved to address the needs of both women and men ex-combatants. It argues that plans for peaceful reintegration must incorporate a careful analysis of the gender ideologies at work in the society under review.
