Executive Summary
This paper summarizes USAID’s approach to integrate the U.S. National Action Plan on Women, Peace, and Security (NAP) (2011) with the agency’s Implementation Plan (2012). In particular, the integration strategy focuses on the NAP’s five objectives: Institutionalize a Gender-Responsive Approach to Peace and Security; Promote Women’s Participation in Peace Processes and Decision-Making; Protect Women and Girls from Violence, Exploitation, and Abuse; Engage Women in Conflict Prevention; Ensure Safe, Equitable Access to Relief and Recovery. USAID is committed to ensuring that gender equality and female empowerment are pillars to all programs.
