Summary
This article examines the role of women in the Soviet political system. By focusing its attention upon Soviet efforts to eradicate the traditional apoliticism of women and by comparing their normative commitments with the outcomes of these efforts, the paper seeks to illuminate the factors which shape female political participation in Soviet society.
