Abstract
This brief highlights women’s participation in government, and the unique role they play in fostering participation and transparency by collaborating across ideology, society, and governance models. Connecting experienced female leaders with potential grassroots candidates is key, and the Institute for Inclusive Security aimed to do that through programs in Liberia and Rwanda that enable established female elected officials to nurture the next generation of leaders. The brief provides recommendations for replicating the success of these programs.
