Executive Summary

As part of the Oxford Studies in Gender and International Relations program, this book aims to achieve four main objectives: 1) Apply political economy approach to violence against women in global context; 2) Challenge existing scholarly and policy approaches; 3) Draw on True’s research for the United Nations Special Rapporteur on Violence Against Women; and 4) Provide strong evidence that increasing women’s access to productive resources and social and economic rights lessens their vulnerability to violence across all societies.
