This article examines the advances made and setbacks endured for advancing women’s roles in peacebuilding since UNSCR 1325 was adopted in 2000. It critiques these efforts and notes events that distracted attention away from progress, such as the “war on terror” following the 2001 9/11 attacks on the United States.
