Abstract

To better understand the women’s persistence under the most difficult of circumstances in peace efforts, the author wants to address the convergence of several seemingly distinct phenomena: conflict management, citizen’s diplomacy, and the global rise of women’s leadership. She will begin with some recent examples of women’s successes from around the world, drawn from her own experiences and field research, and will conclude by offering some thoughts of about what needs to happen in the future in order to increase the political effectiveness and influence of women’s peace movements.
